the very beginning...
2/20/05 - you know how they say things come when you're not looking for it? well that seems to be the case for me in terms of boys. out of the blue yesterday, i got this email from Radu, a guy i play badminton with. if you've been keeping up since day 1 of my blog, you'll *hopefully* remember that he's the hella good player that i was (sorta) interested in cuz he's so talented and stuff. and that you'll remember that he dated my current women's doubles partner for 3 months. and thus, i would never pursue such a thing. his email was short, "Hi, how was your weekend, i had fun playing with you on thursday, i was wondering if you were free later for dinner or a movie, please let me know." First off, he's never communicated to me via email. in fact, i have no idea where he got my email from! second, i was puzzled...what was the meaning of this?? did he just want to get to know me better as a person? 'cuz i was also recently asked by a floormate to dinner, but i knew he was married so i had no pressure. so yup, i basically panicked, called up a bunch of gfs asking for advice. finally, i decided to go with it, and responded thru email, "sure, i can always take a break from studying, but i have no car, how do you suggest we go about this, my number is..." and then i waited...and in my nervousness managed to eat a box of cookies and milk! by 6pm, i was like, forget it, now if he calls, i'll just say that i'm full 'cuz it's past "dinnertime". haha (even tho i sent my reply at 4pm). And in the midst of my cookiemonster fest, he calls! and yea...he apologized for calling so late but he fell asleep, but can be over in an hour. he did know i had no car from convos in the past, and i also remembered he lived 45 minutes away by car! so...that made me wonder why he would take such a long trek when he could just talk to me at badminton open gyms!
so he came, we went to Thai Taste, one of the best Thai restaurants around. Dinner was good, we managed to talk for over 2.5h! Basically shut the place down. He's a really nice guy, great with kids (he coaches), funny, and best of all, he likes sweets!!! When we got the menu, he quickly decided on something, and said, "yum, look at the desserts!" i was surprised--most guys totally glance over that portion. and after our meal, we got sticky rice with mango, which we didn't like as much...so he ordered ANOTHER dessert! TWO desserts! now that's my kinda guy! hahaha =D lol. the second one was fried ice cream...it was SOOOO huge and SOOOO good. and he kindly paid, tho i offered (i think i should have been more insistent with paying, but i hate fighting over checks...plus i'm dirt poor student =P). anyhow, we both walked back to his blue integra =) and agreed we both had fun tonight, and he dropped me back.
so now i'm "confused" and kinda stuck in a rut...i guess the balls in his court. we didn't make any "second date" plans, nothing happened after he took me back (that would totally have freaked me out!! i def see him more as a friend), so....yea.....no idea. it's a horrible distraction from my studies, so i'll try not to think about it! but if anyone has comments (girls and guys), i'd appreciate it!
