another month already!!??
oh gosh, i'm horrendous at this blogging. anyhow, my surgery rotation is over, i absolutely loved it. great team, lotsa fun, good learning. now i'm actually in LA at the 2005 badminton world championships. it is absolutely AMAZING!!! these athletes are beyond talented. i have about 100 video clips of diff matches, and it's only day 3!! there are 7 days total. i can't wait to play...radu wants to start training again and preparing himself for 2006 world champs. i'm not quite certain how i feel about that...partially 'cuz i wish he'd be more "reasonable" and settle down and get a nice job. but then again...i know what it's like to have a dream, a personal goal to shoot for, 'cuz believe it or not, i once aspired to train on the US national badm team in 1996 and represent US in 2000. but of course, my mom would hear none of that. =( and now i see some of the US athletes that i competed against at jr nationals now representing the US. oh well, life goes on. no regrets, PA school is great! =)
turns out, USA men's double teams shocked the world by winning...and winning...and winning...all the way to the finals!!! this is unheard of! the furthest we have ever gotten is to round 16, not even quarterfinals! so...risky me convinced radu to miss our 10:40pm sunday flight to watch the men's doubles finals at 9pm, and WAS IT WORTH IT??? OF COURSE!!!! USA won GOLD MEDAL!! it was sooo crazy and exciting--totally worth it! well, until i found flying standby for the next flight would cost my $200 freakin' dollars!! stupid song airlines--never fly with them!! radu was flying united and they had no trouble putting him on the next flight for free! SONG SUCKS!! so i made a decision to stay until my friend Diana's wedding in 2 weeks, and just try to work on my thesis in sunny CA (of course this didn't happen, but i did have a very relaxing time in sunny CA!).
